Coffee Brewing Methods
French Press
What You'll Need:
- French Press
- Coarse Ground Coffee - about 1 tablespoon per 4 ounces of water
- Hot Water - just off the boil (about 200°F)
To Make French Press Coffee:
1. Preheat the French Press:
- Pour hot water into the empty French press to warm it up. This helps maintain the temperature during brewing.
- Discard the warming water.
2. Add Coffee Grounds:
- Add the coarse coffee grounds to the empty French press. The coarseness prevents the grounds from slipping through the mesh filter of the plunger.
3. Add Hot Water:
Pour hot water evenly over the coffee grounds to ensure all the grounds get wet.
4. Stir Gently:
After adding water, gently stir the mixture with a wooden or plastic spoon.
5. Let It Brew:
- Place the lid on the French press with the plunger pulled all the way up. Let the coffee steep for about 4 minutes. This brewing time can be adjusted based on personal taste preferences for stronger or lighter coffee.
6. Press the Plunger:
- After the brewing time, slowly press the plunger down.
7. Serve Immediately:
Enjoy your freshly brewed French press coffee!
